the best parenting advice received for a baby or toddler as a new mom

The Best Parenting Advice I’ve Ever Received

If you’re a first-time mom or are pregnant right now, I just want to warn you that other moms out there are gonna want to give you all sorts of parenting advice on how you should parent your child (most of which you did not ask for).

They’ll tell you things like what you should do with them, at what age you should do it and so on.

So be ready for it. Sorry.

Remember Everyone Is Different

Everyone parents their children differently and every child develops differently.

There isn’t only one right way of doing something when it comes to parenting.

There are a lot of things I see other moms doing that I do not agree with.

But I’m not the type to nose into someone else’s life and tell them how to parent.

What Drives Me Crazy

It is a huge pet peeve of mine when another mom tries to tell me what I should be doing for my baby.

For example:

What food I should feed them

Where they should sleep when they nap

At what age they should sleep in their own room

When I choose to take my child out in public

What I should dress her in

…the list goes on and on and on!!

The Best Advice I’ve Received About Parenting

Don’t Listen To Other Peoples Parenting Advice

Yes, that’s the best advice I’ve ever heard. I think it came from my mom: don’t listen to other people’s parenting advice (unless it’s something you’ve asked for). You know your child better than anyone else.

If the advice is coming from your pediatrician then, of course, do as they say as long as you trust them because doctors know what’s best for children’s health.

But as for other moms that just tell you unsolicited advice; you don’t have to go along with something just because someone else is doing it or just because that mom feels the need to tell you what to do or what they did with their child when you didn’t even ask them.

Listen To Your Intuition

There is such a thing as a mother’s intuition. For me, it comes through strong when another mom tries to tell me what to do with my child.

But honestly, it’s not just a mom thing. Dads have it too. My husband has great intuition.

Those gut feelings are there for a reason. To protect and/or help your child.

Follow them and do what you think is best for your little one at all times.

You’re A Wonderful Mom

You’re on the internet right now looking for the best parenting advice.

That says something about you. Don’t let anyone tell you what’s best for your child.

A lot of people will try to word it nicely, saying “when my kids were babies, I did ____”, trying to talk you into doing whatever they did for whatever reason (I get this all the time). But you know what’s best for your family, follow your heart. You won’t regret it.

  1. If a person, even a relative, wants to see your baby, LOOK WITH YOUR EYES, NOT YOUR HANDS. I don’t know where it was 2 minutes ago.
