Having a baby makes you re-think a lot of your life habits. One of them being what cleaning products you use in your home.
Before getting pregnant, I used a lot of cleaning products with harsh chemicals, not really thinking about what it was doing to my body. I just wanted a clean house! I would use products like bleach to clean my kitchen and bathroom, leaving my lungs feeling heavy, making it hard to breathe for hours after!
It’s not safe for a small child (or anyone!) breathing that in or touching it, possibly causing health problems. Now that I have a little one, I’m converting to a non-toxic house cleaning method. One that keeps our lungs free from harsh chemical fumes and preventing skin irritation, especially for my little one.
The non-toxic cleaning products I use now are even safe to wash my baby’s teething toys with! I no longer have to worry about her ingesting any chemicals when she’s doing what she does best: chewing on things.
Do chemical-free products really work?
The short answer is yes. And now that I’ve used it, I want to tell the world about it. Why harm your body with chemicals, breathing it in, touching it, eating off of it; when you could be using natural cleaning products that work even better? Yes, I said BETTER.
All the natural cleaning products I use in my home are coconut based. The fatty acids in coconut oil is known to have antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial properties. So even though you’re not using that old trusty bleach spray, you’re still getting things clean!

Baby safe, chemical free cleaning products I use
Cleancult is an eco-friendly, chemical-free company, where I get all my household cleaning products delivered right to my door. The cleaning trio I use most is their all-purpose spray, dish soap, and hand soap.
They have other products you can check out on Cleancult’s website too, but these are my “go-to’s”.

All-purpose spray
I clean up messes in the kitchen, living room, bathroom, and any other area in the house with the all-purpose spray. If you’re wondering what it smells like, it has a nice natural orange scent.
Cleancult uses essential oils to create beautiful scents in all of their products. Leaving your home smelling fresh; unlike the chemical smell in other household cleaners.
You can use this spray on anything. Glass, wood, surfaces in the kitchen & bathroom, on furniture, electronics, and anything else.
Tip: A little goes a long way with this stuff! You only need a few squirts.
When I first used it on my glass stove top, I sprayed probably 10 times to get started because that’s what I was used to needing with my old cleaning product (I spray what I think I’ll need first, then let it sit a second, then scrub).
That was WAY too much. The next time I used it, I got the stove top clean with three sprays.
Dish washing soap
My whole life, I’ve been a believer in Dawn dish soap. I thought it was the best thing available to wash dishes with and that nothing else could get dishes cleaner. That was until I switched over to the non-toxic, natural alternative, Cleancult’s dish soap.
It smells AMAZING, and cuts through grease better than Dawn. I was mind blown when I first used it. And so excited that there is a chemical-free soap I can use to clean all my baby’s teethers, bottles, bowls, spoons, and anything else she puts in her mouth.
As a mom, it makes me feel even better about handing her one of her toys to play with knowing it wasn’t washed with chemicals that is about to enter her mouth. It was washed with all-natural ingredients that are completely safe.
Hand Soap
We wash our hands constantly around our house, trying to stay clean around the baby. Needless to say, we go through hand soap like crazy! Cleancult’s hand soap is also coconut based, like all their other products. And as many times as my husband and I wash our hands in a day, it doesn’t dry our hands out.
It has ingredients like Vitamin E, aloe juice, coconut and olive oil that actually restores moisture to your hands that other hand soaps strip away. So, we can wash our hands as many times as we need in a day (which is a lot after all the diaper changes, food prep, and everything else!) without getting cracked, dried out skin.
Something you may be wondering: With all that oil in the ingredients, will your hands feel greasy?
Nope! Just clean.
