Domain Name

First things first, think about what your domain name will be.

Your domain name can be your first and last name, or you can create a unique name for your virtual assistant business and use that as your domain name.

How to make a virtual assistant website. Including How to make your website stand out

Create A Virtual Assistant Website

The easiest and most affordable way to create a virtual assistant website is through Bluehost, which is the website hosting company I use for all my websites.

What is web hosting anyway?

That’s what I wondered when I was trying to start my website.

A web host is a business that provides storage space and access to your website. For example, I use WordPress as a space to write my content, but Bluehost as the host for my domain name and website storage.

Bluehost is the web hosting site I chose to build and maintain my website because it’s easy to use and can be linked to WordPress with one click.

They provide 24/7 help, so if for some reason, your site stops working or you have a question about how to do something, all you have to do is call, email, or instant message them and someone from Bluehost will be there to walk you through how to do it. (Or if needed, completely fix the issue for you).

What you get:

  • A free domain name (website name)
  • Free SSL Certificate
  • Quick and easy WordPress Installation
  • A 24/7 support number to help with anything to do with your site.

Why Bluehost?

  • Bluehost is the #1 recommended web hosting company.
  • People will take you more seriously with your own domain name therefore, trust you and be more interested in working with you.
  • Bluehost is the most affordable web hosting option for all the features that are included.
  • They offer a money back guarantee if for some reason you decide it’s not for you.

The Sign-Up Process

Step 1: Click the link to the Bluehost website. It should come up in a new tab so you can continue looking at these instructions.

Step 2: Once you’re there, click the green “get started” button.

Step 3: Select your desired plan. I recommend the Basic plan or the Choice Plus plan.

Step 4: Create a new domain name or enter one you already own. Bluehost will let you know right away if your desired domain name is already taken. Thus, I would have a few names written down that you can choose from just in case your favorite is already taken. I also recommend using a “.com” but that’s completely up to you.

Step 5: Enter your account information.

Step 6: Select your package plan. The 36 month plan is your most money efficient option. Then select package extras. I recommend domain privacy protection & SiteLock Security.

Step 7: Enter payment information.

Step 8: Create a password.

Congratulations! You are now the proud owner of a website and can now start your money making journey!

Step 9: Now, easily install WordPress from Bluehost with one click!

Step 10: Customize Your Site with a “Theme” that best suits your VA websites needs.

I currently use the Astra (free) theme.

When first starting out, it’s okay to go with a free theme. A lot of them are easy to use and will get the job done until you start bringing in money. Then you can decide if a paid theme would be best for you.

I find that this free theme does what I need, so for me, there’s no point in spending money on a different one.

Install Plugins with WordPress

Plugins are different types of software to help you efficiently run your website. They all do different things and enable you to broaden the functionality of your website.

These are the plugins I recommend using to start with.

  • Ad Inserter: Allows you to insert advertisements on your website.
  • Monsterinsights: helps you link to Google Analytics and see how much traffic your virtual assistant website is getting.
  • Yoast SEO: To help you rank higher in search engines like Google.

Use Grammarly

When communicating with clients or prospective clients, you’ll want to know that there aren’t any careless spelling or grammatical errors. Grammarly has a free download to automatically tell you where your errors are to enable you to correct them before hitting send!

This is something every online business owner should have.

Create Essential Pages

These are your fundamental pages every website needs.

I’ve linked the sites I used to help me create these pages.

Other Helpful Sites To Utilize

Google Analytics

When you start a website, Google Analytics is very important. It enables you to see how much traffic you are getting to your site and what pages are being looked at the most.

It shows you what time your viewers are coming to the site, where they are coming from, what they do while they are there, and how long they stay!

MailerLite

MailerLite is the email marketing platform I use. The first 1000 subscribers are FREE. It is the easiest email tool that I’ve used. I have since upgraded to the paid plan. It allows you to send unlimited emails per month.

Canva

Create graphics, templates, forms, newsletters, charts, checklists, and so much more on canva.com. I have the pro version because I use it daily and enjoy the extras you get with pro. If you’re a social media manager, its a must.

Ready For Success!
