3 Best Diapers For A Baby Or Toddler

One item I added very large quantities of to my baby registry was diapers for a baby or toddler. A stash of diapers is the biggest must have when expecting a newborn for obvious reasons.

But there are so many to choose from, where do you start? When I was pregnant, I spent hours (yes, hours!) researching the perfect diaper that I was going to put on my unborn baby’s bum.

I wanted a diaper that was least likely to cause a diaper rash, and least likely to experience a leak.

After those hours of research, I decided on a specific brand. That being Pampers. This diaper brand is trusted by many and was even the brand supplied at the hospital where I delivered my baby.

Where To Buy Diapers

My favorite place to shop for diapers (especially now during the pandemic) is Amazon. You can find thousands of reviews there to help you figure out which diaper is best suited for your baby.

The second best place to buy diapers is a store like Sam’s Club, Costco, or BJ’s because of the option for buying in bulk.

Lastly, Walmart and Target are also wonderful places to purchase diapers. They may not have the larger boxes in stock, so it’s good to shop around.

How To Save Money On Diapers

One of the best ways to save money when buying diapers is to buy in bulk, as mentioned above. You can essentially get free diapers when buying in bulk because the more you buy at one time, the less you pay for it.

For example, a 20 pack of diapers is about $10; while a 198 pack diapers is $50 or less. Always go for the biggest pack you can find to save money.

Sometimes you will find coupons for diapers at your local grocery store. Target also offers discounts or freebies (like gift cards) when you buy multiple boxes of diapers in one order.

If you choose to buy from Amazon, save money by subscribing to Amazon’s Family Plan, with it you will receive:

  • 20% discount on diapers subscriptions & baby food
  • Exclusive Coupons and Deals from Amazon Family
  • Exclusive Baby Registry benefits (including a 15% discount upon completion)
  • FREE Two-Day Shipping on millions of items
  • Unlimited instant streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows
  • Unlimited, ad-free streaming of over a million songs and more Prime benefits

Choose The Correct Diaper Size

Finding the correct diaper size for your baby is fairly easy. On the front of the diaper box, there will be a weight range in the bottom left corner.

If you don’t know your baby’s weight, you can weigh them at home. Do this by stepping on the scale while holding your baby, then record that weight.

Next, lay your baby down in a safe place and step on the scale alone. Record that weight and subtract the smaller weight from the larger weight. This will give you the approximate weight of your baby.

Look on the diaper box and find the size that would fit that weight.

Sometimes, if the baby is starting to grow out of that diaper size, you will experience more blowouts or leaks.

This is when you want to move up a size, even if your baby is 10 lb and the box says it fits up to 12 lb, still switch to a larger size if you are experiencing blowouts.

Average Diaper Changes Per Day

For newborns until about three months of age, babies will need approximately 8 to 10 diaper changes within a 24-hour period.

As babies get older, this amount decreases. For example, a one-year-old will only need 5 to 6 diaper changes within a 24-hour period.

The Best Diapers For Babies And Toddlers:

Pampers Swaddlers

Pampers Pure Protection

Pampers Baby Dry

Best Diapers Overall: Pampers Swaddlers

Pampers Swaddlers are the best diapers for a baby or toddler because it meets all the most important check boxes for the perfect diaper.

It has a wetness indicator going down the center of the diaper that changes colors from yellow to blue, letting you know baby has used soiled the diaper.

Swaddlers have air channels keeping a good air flow through the diaper to your baby or toddler’s skin reducing the risk of diaper rash.

It also has wetness protection for up to 12 hours. My one year old can sleep in these all night long with no leaks!

These are the best absorbing diapers I have used on my baby and are also the best in price out of each of the suggestions on this list.

Best Diapers For Sensitive Skin: Pampers Pure Protection

Pampers Pure Protection diapers are a great choice for babies with extra sensitive skin.

When I was pregnant, I added loads of these diapers to my baby registry. I knew these were what I wanted on my baby’s butt for as long as I could afford it!

Pampers Pure have NO chlorine bleaching, fragrance, lotion, or parabens in their diapers.

They are hypoallergenic and made of premium cotton and soft plant-based fibers.

These diapers have 12-hour leak protection as well and are just as good as Pampers Swaddlers. Pampers Pure are just a little more pricey because they are made of better material.

The price of the product is why it has landed in number 2 on this list.

Best Overnight Diapers: Pampers Baby Dry

Pampers baby dry diapers are intended for nighttime use. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I went shopping for diapers (because stores online were out of stock) and all my store had in stock at the time was Pampers Baby Dry. I was forced to try them but was happy with the outcome.

They were comfortable for my baby all day and night. They are made to keep babies bottoms dryer for 3 times longer than other brands. They did what the box said they would!

Baby Dry has air channels to keep an adequate air flow preventing rashes during prolonged use, such as a full nights sleep.

The price of Pampers Baby Dry are more affordable than Pampers Pure or Swaddlers. But Pampers Baby Dry lands in number 3 because the diaper tends to get very puffy in appearance, unlike Swaddlers.
