I haven’t been blogging very long, but I have learned a lot in my first 9 months!
My blog has made passive income every month since it was started. Currently, I make $500+ each month and it just keeps increasing as the months go on.
Before taking the dive into blogging, I spent over a year of pondering if I should do it and doing research on “how to start a blog” and “how to write a blog post” and “how to make passive income” before I started, which..I don’t really recommend..wasted a lot of time.
You can learn the answers to all your questions in those blog posts linked above.
There is a lot to learn in the blogging world, but you have to just get started! It’s a little overwhelming at first, I won’t lie.
But it’s very doable and if you stick with it, you too could be making passive income from home, even while you sleep!
Consistency Is Key!
You won’t get anywhere in life without putting in work and being dedicated to your dream.
With blogging, it really has to be a passion of yours, not a job or a chore.
If you aren’t consistently updating your blog website with new content and sharing it on Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, or whatever social media site that works best for you, your site will fail and I have proof.
Proof That Consistency Is Key
I first started my blog on April 16th of 2019. You see from my analytics that it started to really do well in that first month!
By June and into July, there is a huge drop off…this is what happens when you stop being consistent.
In June, I gave birth to my sweet little baby and focused all my time on her and healing myself.
During this time, I didn’t post on Pinterest and didn’t post new content to my blog.
Once I was feeling better (and getting more sleep), I began blogging again.
That was around the first of August where you see the line start to increase.
You can’t just come in with a few posts and expect to make money with a new blog.
You have to constantly be making extra content that relates to the needs of your audience to keep them on your site and wanting to learn more from you.
Know Your Audience
Know your audience (or target audience) and what they need from you.
Whatever niche you may be in, put yourself in your target reader’s shoes.
What questions might they have about the subject you know most about?
What products and services could you suggest to them that you know for a fact could help them? (These products need to be something you’ve used and can suggest; knowing 100% it will help your readers.)
Is your target audience Male or female, or a mixture of both? What is the age range? Where are they from?
All of this knowledge of target audience ties into where you will be marketing your blog, the graphic design, photos you might use, affiliate programs to use, and so much more.
Most importantly, knowing your target audience will help tremendously when contemplating what kind of blog posts to write.
With my motherhood and parenting blog, I know that my target audience is 99% female, ages 25-34 with the majority of them being from the United States.
Most of them pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant or may already have a few children. Knowing this information makes it so easy to come up with content to help these women!

Where I Get Traffic
Pinterest is an awesome place to get blog traffic. That is the only place I share my blog posts and the one place I focus on to drive traffic.
Keep in mind, a large percentage of people who use Pinterest are wanting to make a purchase of some sort.
Because Pinterest is a search engine, people use it to search for answers to all sorts of questions like what they need to purchase or learn about from real people who are sharing their experiences.
Note: not all niches do well on Pinterest as most of its users are currently female. But try it out for a few months and see how it goes!
Where I Make Money With A New Blog
Affiliate income is currently how I bring in the majority of my blogging income.
I also make money from ads displayed on the site. There are many other ways to make money with a new blog, but these are what I use.
My biggest income sources for December 2019, 8th-month blogging:
Amazon Associates – $398.70
Bluehost – $75
Google Adsense – $42
I am an affiliate for many other companies, but these are where I make the most income as of when this post was written.
